This experiment is beneficial since sound-blocking is desired in many situations (music, neighbours, industry). Various materials are used for this purpose.

How does the loss of intensity of sound waves change when passing through
materials of different densities?

Five materials, metal, wood, foam, clay, wool (same volume) were tested for sound intensity loss. Hypothesis:metal has the greatest sound intensity loss. A constant sound source was passed through the materials and output intensity was measured. Order of greatest sound-insulating capabilities was metal, wood, foam, clay, wool (range:13%-8.5%). Conclusively, metal was the best sound insulator: therefore, the hypothesis was correct.
