Based on the proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline, I examined the depth and rate of oil percolation in different types of soil found along the proposed pipeline route. The objective was to determine whether a better pipeline route can be designed to account for soil types and to find natural materials to slow the rate of percolation. By focusing on the environmental side of energy, my goal was to fill an information void that exists in Kinder Morgan's submissions to the National Energy Board.
