We built a set of microbial fuel cells which run on the metabolic process of bacteria and their consumption of the biomass present in their environment, to create an electric current. We ran the cell on a variety of different waste types to see if the cell could function off different sources and which of them was most effective. We did this to understand whether or not it could be made an accessible source of alternative energy for someone requiring it. As well as to further our own understanding of the cell and the processes that power it.
