Rolling resistance is a force resisting the motion of a tire rolling along a surface. A vehicle with low rolling resistance will be more fuel efficient and produce less greenhouse gases. I hypothesized that a tire with higher tire pressure on a lighter car will have lower rolling resistance than a tire with less tire pressure on a heavier car. I built a cart and measured the rolling resistance required to pull it at different weights and tire pressures. My hypothesis was correct. If vehicle rolling resistance was decreased the potential positive environmental impact would be huge.
