Do weather changes affect water quality? To find out, I measured water clarity at three different sites on the eastern shoreline of the Georgian Bay (Ontario) during two three week periods. Each site had different exposures to weather factors and water exchange. To see what factors might change the water clarity, I measured wind speed, wind direction, thermoclines, air temperature, and rainfall. I concluded that short term changes in water clarity were caused primarily by wind direction and wind speed, most likely because they affected water exchange.
